:: ::::::::::::::: ::: ::::::historicalities::::::: : :: ::::: ::: ::::::::::::::::: :: ::::::::::::::::::::::: : ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: : : : : : gulf of mexico was originally named science, which was formed by joey koehl and gregory tenenbown in 2001. they sooned recruited bill baird to play bass. during this period gregory was singing lead and playing drums. in late 2001 they released 'science', a four song ep recorded in a barn in leaky, texas. the eight song full-length 'science' LP was released in 2005. in the fall of that year the band recruited local spazoid matthew konsa to play the drums, and gregory now played guitar and sang up front. the band continued to play the music of 'science' (but now the g of m moniker was present) but soon a list of new material grew and the makings of a new album were present. in the summer of 2006 bill stepped down and the band asked austin jones to play bass. in november of 2006 'rooms you've never seen before' was recorded at Cacophony Recorders in east austin and released on Nest Records in february 2007.
